Is easy boring?

One doesn't play chess or do a cryptic crossword because it's a piece of cake, nor would you run a marathon to get a PB because it's a synch. That would be defeating the object.

Yet I found myself asking 'does better kit, which makes things easier, actually make things boring,' as I crusied down one of my favourite techno trails on a new steed. Big wheels, I realized were getting me through stuff quicker and with less 'I'm going to die' factor than I was used to. "Oh, here am I," I can distinctly remember thinking, big wheels having reduced an untamable monster to something almost on the edge of domestication. The trail shooting by unnoticed.

Somehow I felt a little cheated. The fun was over far too quickly, the sense of achievement almost none-existent.

So where did that leave me?

Harder stuff...that's the only possible next step. Better tech opens up the possibilities, making lines you only ever dreamed about tantalizingly possible. Yet still, big bikes and big travel seem a bit like cheating on easy terrain. Big travel is for big drops...so get practicing folks. with big wheels and big travel you could be at the Rampage soon ;)
