In an unexpected departure for paleontologist Eve Wells, the latest speculative adventure she steps into takes place in the wake of the Cold War and does not utilize her knowledge of the prehistoric past.
With the mysterious death of a junior lab technician in the late 1990’s, Eve and curator Polly Nightingale are drawn to post-cold war Britain, where only their intervention - and the guidance of time traveller Ravenna Friere - can halt a life threatening disease with the potential to decimate the present.
"She stared open mouthed. ‘You don’t seriously think ..!’
Her skin begin to crawl: exposed to the virus - her hands were beginning to tremble, but she ignored the sensation. ‘At first it will seem like you have a cold – a fever …’ she hardly seemed to hear."
'Speculative historical fantasy at its very best.'

Those universities and medical schools are weird places. Good dark tale and the almost modern setting - perhaps too close to reality in places.
Another Cool adventure. Locked rooms, dark corridors, a dead cat and pustules galore all blend seamlessly in this '90s set adventure with the intrepid trio.
A cold atmosphere envelops as you read, just pushing you to turn those pages to the Cool ending.
Definitely requires a second immediate reading.
